The Trump-Pence administration – utilizing ICE, Border Patrol, the Department of Homeland Security and Jeff Sessions’ Justice Department – is cruelly separating families at the border for no legitimate reason. Immigration authorities have separated thousands of children from their families.

Today, Indiana community members are standing up to take action at the #FamiliesBelongTogether Letter Writing – Evening of Action.

“We are inspired to see how many members of our community have expressed interest in reaching out to government officials to express their sincerest concerns regarding this cruel policy,” said Jane Henegar, executive director of ACLU of Indiana. “This evening of action gives individuals a chance to call and write to their senators, congressional representatives and President Trump stating that family separation is not the solution.”

At the border, across the country, in the courts and in the streets, the ACLU is standing against the Trump-Pence administration’s inhumane immigration policies.

“We want to make it clear that there is no law that requires parents and children to be separated,” said Katie Blair, ACLU of Indiana Advocacy Director. “The Trump administration bears full responsibility for this inhumane policy and has the power to stop it today.”

Later this month, Indianapolis community members are coming together on Saturday, June 30, for a Families Belong Together Rally in downtown Indianapolis.
