This bill would have expanded Medicaid coverage for pregnant women by requiring reimbursement for delivery services provided in a birthing center and a home birth performed by a physician or certified nurse midwife. Indiana has the third worst maternal mortality rate in the country, disproportionately impacting people of color and rural communities. This bill is a substantial step toward reducing maternal mortality in Indiana and helps ensure continued care for new mothers.
